Saint Roch was born with a red cross on his chest, an early indicator that he had been chosen for a holy life. He gave all of his money away and devoted his life to taking care of the poor and sick. While miraculously curing plague victims, he contracted plague himself. He wandered into a forest to die, but he was nursed to health by a dog that took scraps of food from his master's table.

Prayer to Assist With Canine Care
O blessed St. Roch, I beseech thee to protect my canine companion from fleas, hot spots and surly raccoons. I also humbly ask that you grant my dog the proclivity to obey my commands and the courtesy to relieve himself outdoors. Amen |
