For that special couple: Unicorn and Horse Wedding Cake Topper

Spring is finally starting to creep into the air, which means wedding season is also approaching. Our new Horse and Unicorn Wedding Cake Topper is perfect for that “special” couple that wants their wedding to be a wee bit different. This 6-1/4″ tall polystone cake topper features our Magical Unicorn Mask and Creepy Horse Mask on a bride and groom. (The bride and/or groom may be blushing, but it’s hard to tell because of the masks.)

Max and Whitney Losee shared a picture of their awesome wedding cake with us:

Does anyone have a reason why these two should not be married? Neigh!

[Special thanks to Max and Whitney Losee for letting us use a picture of their beautiful cake!]

Unicorn pumpkin king

While unicorns love summer for all its sunshine and rainbows, they are also fond of autumn. We took this unicorn to a corn maze and he declared himself king of the pumpkin patch.

You know how some people are really good at picking out a good melon? Rumor has it that Unicorns have a highly developed sense that enables them to choose the perfect pumpkin.

Thanks to Stocker Farms for letting us take pictures!

Unicorn at the Zoo

Jeff Wysaski of Pleated-Jeans has done something completely awesome with our Magical Unicorn Mask. He created a unicorn exhibit at the Los Angeles Zoo, complete with its own educational placard:

unicorn placard

Entitled “Unicorn at the Zoo,” this delightful video shows off Randy, the zoo’s newest and most magical resident.

“Say hello to the newest resident of the LA Zoo. He’s already a big crowd pleaser…”

Watching him look so longingly at the zebras, we’re wondering how Randy the Unicorn would react if other unicorns showed up to visit him at the LA Zoo.

Now we know why we’ve sometimes felt weirdly unsatisfied after an otherwise amazing day at the zoo. No unicorns!

Magical Unicorn sighting in Germany

There’s even more than Oktoberfest going on in Germany right now. Actual unicorns are wandering around inside people’s homes. We just received this photographic evidence of a recent unicorn sighting in the home of Tim LaBenz. We agree with Tim that its clarity puts previous crytozoological sightings to shame:

German unicorn sighting

Tim explains: “Last night we were celebrating a birthday for our Archie McPhee-crazed 12 y.o.’s birthday. (Cade is the cool kid-o with the nail through his finger opening up his presents.) In the midst of the celebration we were able to capture this random unicorn sighting (but of better quality than other famous -yet grainy- sightings like Bigfoot or Loch Ness, you be the judge).”

In addition to the awesome sighting of a magical creature, this photo serves as further proof that Archie McPhee has the best customers ever. Thanks Tim!

Cats love it!

We’d like to share a few recent sightings of one of our favorite products, the Inflatable Unicorn Horn for Cats. Cat’s love it!

The fun began when Redditor Alterx shared this fantastic photo:

Which prompted Redditor k41y17 to share a photo of her own cat clearly enjoying his/her own fabulous Inflatable Unicorn Horn:

A short while later Redditor iCareMuch shared a photo of their cat wearing the horn too:

Can you believe just how much these cats are enjoying themselves?
But wait, there’s more!

As if that trio of unicorn kitty photos wasn’t great enough, we then spotted this awesome sticker in the Hawthorne District of Portland, OR:

Do not provoke the neon unicorn kitty. He’s busy being awesome.

(Unfortunately we don’t know the name of the artist responsible for making this fantastic piece of adhesive street art, but we love it all the same.)

So there you have it. Uni-cats are popping up all over the place and we couldn’t be happier about it. Stay tuned for future sightings of the Inflatable Unicorn Horn for Cats.

What do Unicorns:

and Underpants all have in common?:

Easy! They’re each categories of awesome stuff available on the entirely redone Archie McPhee website:

It’s all so fancy and new. Check it out.

Unused Unicorn Designs – Unicorn Fail or Unifail

Back in 2005 Unicorns were all the rage. At least they were for us. We did the Avenging Unicorn and then decided to spin off the line in new and fantastic directions. Below are some of our unproduced designs. Perhaps, they will be made someday, but until then, they, like actual unicorns, exist only in our minds. (Click on the pictures below for larger version.)

Anarchist Unicorn - Anarchistcorn - Unused Unicorn Design

Fairy Land is ruled by the Fairy Queen with an iron fist in a tiny velvet glove. The peppermint trains run on time, but at what cost? How many freedoms must an elf give up? Why are the dwarves forced to live underground? The Anarchistcorn wants to destroy the rule of fairy law!

Actually, we’re located in Seattle, so the WTO protests probably influenced this a bit. Now, we’d probably put the unicorn in a V for Vendetta “Guy Fawkes” mask.

Death Unicorn - Deathcorn - Unused Unicorn Design

This is what we came up with when we imagined what mythic figure would come to collect unicorn’s souls when they died. We tried it first with a hooded robe, but horns and hoods don’t mix.

Capitalist Unicorn - Capitalistcorn - Unused Unicorn Design

When trying to decide who would fight the Commiecorn, this was our first thought. It didn’t quite work, but there’s something appealing about a unicorn with a dollar sign on his rump. This would be the symbol of the First Bank of Fairy Land.

Rainbow Unicorn - Rainbowcorn- Unused Unicorn Design

Rainbowcorn is just free to be who he wants to be! There was disagreement about this unicorn, some felt it should have the traditional star and rainbow on its side, but others felt the zebra stripe rainbow was the way to go.  As it turned out, neither one was actually made!

Pirate Unicorn- Piratecorn - Unused Unicorn Design

This one came the closest to actually being produced until someone pointed out that unicorns get seasick really easily.

Lucky Unicorn - Luckycorn - Unused Unicorn Design

Luckycorn comes a little close to My Little Pony. Most people think of Ireland when they look at him, so it’s all far too confusing.

Banana Unicorn - Bananacorn - Unused Unicorn Design

We have no memory of why this unicorn exists or why he was supposed to be funny.

Unicorndog - Unused Unicorn Design

Get it? Corn Dog + Unicorn = Unicorndog. That’s funny! Hello? Tap tap. Is this thing on?

Unicorn Steak - Unused Unicorn Designs

One final bonus item, the unicorn steak. What would happen if you went to a butcher shop and asked for unicorn? What would it look like? Should we make a candy like that? This is what it would have looked like if we had.
